I came across this app while looking through my twitter feed and @smeech had recommend it. I have been telling teachers and schools for a while not to spend a lot of money on Elmo's or Lady Bugs (See iPad vs Lady Bug and Elmo) as the iPad can do similar things for similar money. With the Stage: Interactive Whiteboard and Document Camera app you now have the ability to use the iPad camera with some of the functions an Elmo or Lady Bug has. For instance a teacher can project in realtime students work, class materials, outlines, etc. There are also some added visuals to enhance the presentation such as; adding labels, using a laser pointer or drawing/writing to emphasize certain aspects or content. This app has a lot to offer the only thing I wish it had would be a save capability so video and annotations could be saved for later viewing and reading.

Thanks for this post. As the creator and developer of the Stage App, I'd like to thank you for recognizing the value of our new application for schools like yours. We really appreciate all that teachers and administrators do throughout the school year to ensure student success, and believe our app can help make that process a little easier and a lot more fun!

We just launched the App in December after spending countless hours conducting primary research in numerous schools. We plan to launch an upgraded version (1.1) in February, which will include great new features like in-app screen capture and video/audio recording. We trust these improvements will be welcome additions to the app.

We value your comments and suggestions. As the business leader for Belkin’s Education division, it is my responsibility to ensure we are building the right solutions for districts like yours. Please feel free to message me at any time and let me know how I can help.
